Ihsan Hassan
Principal
Ar. Ihsan Hassan is the principal and founder of Ihsan Hassan Architects, with an academic background that includes an MEng in Structural Engineering and Architecture from the University of Sheffield, UK, and a Bachelor of Architecture from Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. He holds a certification as an Industrialised Building System Professional by the Construction Industry Board of Malaysia (CIDB) and has amassed 12 years of experience in various architectural domains, encompassing high-rise buildings, hotels, housing, and urban planning.
His professional accomplishments include achievements in design competitions organized by Malaysian Institute of Architects (PAM) and other institutions, including a notable fifth-place finish in the 2019 competition for the design of Indonesia's new capital city, Nusantara.
While his corporate portfolio predominantly reflects modern design, Ar. Ihsan Hassan has devoted a decade to the study of classical and traditional architectural principles, informed by ancient texts, meticulous measurements of Southeast Asian heritage structures, and participation in archaeological excavations such as Lembah Bujang. This background forms the foundation of Ihsan Hassan Architect's commitment to preserve and continue Southeast Asia's classical and traditional design legacy.
